I got this little stove to replace my existing Trangia spirit stove. The change from spirit to gas for me isn’t for weight or space saving reasons, but rather to escape the nasty-smelling spirit which, if spilled or leaked, simply permeates your entire pack forever. I thought I might have to change the rest of my Trangia cooking setup too. But with the lower legs folded, this little stove fits perfectly into my Trangia base, which has a much wider footprint providing further stability, as well as making a very effective wind-break. A test in realistic conditions, using my existing Trangia cooking system, yielded positive results which means I don’t need to change my cooking set-up after all. 750ml (26oz) of water boiled in a little under 5 minutes in exposed windy conditions, which is enough for either a hot drink for two, or a hot drink and dehydrated pasta meal (in a cozy) for one. Plus it’s cool enough to pack away before either is finished, meaning you’re on your way again sooner without having to wait for it to cool to a safe temperature. The included adapter makes gas canister options a wider choice, meaning the stove can be fitted to both screw-on and bayonet types. The control knob is very sensitive, and it takes a little fiddling to get the flame right. Movement from the off position to loss of eyebrows is very small, so care should certainly be taken when lighting, but most people familiar with camping stoves of any sort would be taking all the usual precautions anyway. All in all, I am very happy with my purchase

Brilliant, only thing is box is super sweet and small but a bugger to open. Easy to connect to the two alternative gas bottles and easy to use. Definitely recommend

Bad build quality and poor design/heat output. It worked good once but then sprayed grass everywhere and ignited. Very bad safety/value for money.

Product works well and at present the igniter works but experience with these suggests it might be short-lived.

I like the way it packs. Fits in a back pack easily and doesn't take much space. Really well built, can see this working for a decent amount of trips.

A brilliant product! I use this for the kettle primarily, as it has a wide base. the Firestorm is more powerful but feels a little unstable compared to this beauty! I can attach it directly to the small gas canister without the adapter, and it is VERY powerful, it boils a kettle for 4 cups of water in about 5mins. Also you can use a wind guard around it too, which I find helpful. I would recommend it.

I bought 2 of these lightweight backpacker style burners to use on a 6 day motorbike trip, one at 6800 watts and this one of 3500 watts. The 6800 boils a litre of water (with no wind) in about 2 minutes, but I think its too hot for frying, so I used this one for frying as I was able to control the temperature, but it took between 3-4 minutes to boil a litre of water, so I reserve the 6800 one purely for quick boils preferring to use the this 3500 watt one for for cooking/frying due to the better temperature control. As for gas consumption, I used both stoves with a single small 227 gramme Butane bottle (connecting it with the included attachment) for 6 days cooking twice a day and boiling water whenever I needed it and still have around a 3rd of the bottle left. I had taken an extra bottle (just in case) but now know that a single bottle is more than enough for a week this will save space in my pack. One thing to be cautious of though if using first thing on a damp/foggy morning, if you get condensation in the jets the butane will vapourise this (it produces a steam like cloud that is barely noticeable) and if you light immediately the butane, hydrogen and oxygen all burn with a large yellow flame and can be quite dangerous in the confines of a tent. Fortunately this only happened to me once and I was outside. This is not a design fault of the stove, it's just science and something that every camper should be aware of. You are burning pressurised gas and the risk of a fireball experience such as mine might only be a once in a lifetime experience but the risk is still there. To minimise the risk: 1) Always put it back in the provided plastic box overnight 2) Do not light it if there is any kind of visible steam when you turn the gas on 3) Do not light it for the first time inside the tent (if there's a lot of condensation/damp air) If I had to take only one stove, I think I'd prefer this 3500 watt one to the 6800 despite it taking twice as long to bring water to the boil purely because of the ease of cooking at a better controlled temperature, I'd rater wait an extra couple of minutes for brew than to suffer eating burned food as I'm no Gordon Ramsey ;-) As for recommendations, if you're only looking for one stove or on a budget, then buy this, not a hotter one. If you have the budget and space in your pack/on your bike then buy two stoves for two completely different purposes.
