This fire pit is suitable for making an occasional camp fire. It’s assembled by connecting three short poles to make each of the four legs, and then suspending the wire mesh between the four corners. The metal poles fit inside one another and are easily fitted together. The legs are braced very securely by a metal square, part way up. The mesh however, is secured in each corner by flimsy hooks that don’t lock into place and need to be manufactured with longer ‘legs’ to improve the fitting. When used the mesh did stay in position but we feel that the firepit should be used cautiously and not in a strong wind because the whole thing is lightweight and not very deep, meaning that it could blow over entirely or at the least the ashes would blow everywhere. After use the mesh had changed colour due to the heat of course but was not showing any signs of damage. The firepit can be disassembled once it’s cooled down and put back in the handy case that’s supplied with it.

This review is for the Portable Fire Pit, Folding Camping Fire Pit with Carry Bag, Small Size 42cm Stainless Steel Mesh Firepit. I am specifying this, as the advert is now for a different product. This is a handy little portable fire pit that comes in a carry bag for safe storage. Setup is easy and doable in under a minute. Because of its design, you will get a lot of airflow, so once you get your fire going, be prepared for a faster burn rate. I have tested it with a few small fires, and it appears to work without issue. The price at the time of purchase was £11.99, which is reasonable for this mesh fire pit.

I ordered this packaway, portable fire pit from the Amazon brand HAOLIIDA. It's a revelation. We used it down at the beach on Sunday and it was surprisingly good for such portable, small item. I guess the intention is to have people ( like us) use it on the beach, or when hiking or camping. It's not amazingly light at 3.5kg; if you're hiking every kilo counts. But if there were a few of you to spread the loads out it would be a good choice (or is can go in a car :-D) I found putting the canopy together quite fiddly, but not difficult per se. it is surprisingly stable once build, and more stable again once the wood is there to steady it. However I wouldn't use this in windy weather. It is a good way to get around the regulations in some picnic spots that you can't place a bbq on the grass - but I'd go one further and say it would be best to also pack a fireproof (teflon?) sheet to pop below if possible. Good for roasting marshmallows or just keeping warm, I guess you could also wrap food - like fish - in tinfoil and just throw it on the fire and wait for it to bake. After the campfire, it was time to dismantle everything, was a bit trepidatious about how to tip the wood off etc. We doused the fire then waited 20 minutes or so for everything to cool. the metal seemed to cool quicker than the wood. The canopy mesh did end up somewhat discoloured and I think after many uses it would eventually wear through. But for the price, and utility offered it is worth the money even for a limited lifespan, It is certainly cheaper than getting a disposable BBQ every time you want a little atmosphere outdoors! This camp fire pit comes with sections of metal tubes that you will need to sleeve them together. The pit is made of a meshed metal fabric. There are fixings to push into the hole of the tubes and connect to the eyelets of the fabric to make a canopy like fire pit. It is very light and subjected to wind blowing, so it can be dangerous in high wind areas or your burning material is very light. Ok for big chunky wood logs but not for paper burning with any wind. It is relatively sturdy if not wind. Very simple and very light to bring with you when camping.
